What does a professional event documentary cost?
From small company celebrations to corporate congresses – honest prices, no standard answers.
Reading time: 9 minutes | Updated: March 2026

Your company is planning an event – and you want it to leave more than just a few cell phone photos. A professional event film makes your event a lasting success: for the company website, internal communication, social media and future participant recruitment.
What does it cost? After producing hundreds of event films – from small corporate events to major events with several thousand participants – we know the honest figures.
What event film formats are there?
The format determines the price – and the target determines the format. These types are commissioned most frequently:
Classic event documentation
Atmospheric summary: arrival, highlights, speakers, mood, networking. Typically 3-5 minutes, used on the company website or internally. Price range: 2,500-6,000 euros.
After-movie for external marketing
High-impact short film that communicates the event to the outside world – for customers, press, LinkedIn, YouTube. Cinematic, with music licenses and professional grading. Price range: 4,000-12,000 euros.
Image film with event background
The event serves as the backdrop for a corporate film. Employee interviews, testimonials, product presentations – the event becomes a filming location. Price range: 5,000-15,000 euros.
Multi-camera congress production
For conferences, congresses, award shows: several synchronized cameras, direct live cut or complex post-production. Livestreaming optional. Price range: 6,000-25,000+ euros.
Social media highlight reel
30-90 seconds, dynamically edited, optimized for LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube. Usually produced as an add-on to the classic documentary. Price range: 1,500-3,500 euros (add-on).
The 5 most important cost factors for event films
1. team size and camera setup
For a simple event documentary, one experienced cameraman with two to three camera systems is sufficient. Larger events require 2-4 cameramen plus technical support. Each additional person costs 600-1,200 euros per day of shooting.
2. event duration and shooting days
A half-day event is covered more quickly than a two-day congress. Travel and accommodation costs are added for locations outside the region – for events in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Mainz and Darmstadt, these are not incurred with us.
3. post-production
Often underestimated: the post-production of an event film takes 3-5 times longer than the day of filming itself. Color correction, editing, music selection, subtitles – calculate 15-25 hours of editing work for a 3-minute documentary.
4. music licenses
GEMA-free music for an internal film is inexpensive (from 50 euros). For public release or social media, you need the appropriate licenses – this can mean an extra 200-2,000 euros.
5. planned interviews and testimonials
Talking head interviews with speakers or participants require a lighting set-up and sound equipment. This makes the film significantly more valuable – and costs correspondingly more preparation.
Event film costs 2026 – price table
Realistic price ranges based on our experience in the Rhine-Main area and beyond:
| Budget | Scope of services | Typical scenario |
|---|---|---|
| 1.500-3.500 Euro | 1 cameraman, half-day event, basic documentary 2-3 min. | Internal team meeting, small product presentation |
| 3,500-6,000 euros | 1-2 cameramen, all-day event, documentary 3-5 min. + social clip | Annual conference for up to 200 people, corporate events |
| 6.000-12.000 Euro | 2-3 cameramen, interviews, after-movie + social cuts | Product launch, customer event, award ceremony |
| 12,000-25,000 euros | Multi-camera, congress, livestream, multiple output formats | Corporate congress, industry trade fairs, major events |
Practical tip: Plan the event film right from the start – not as an afterthought. If you only book the cameraman two days in advance, you pay express surcharges and don’t get the best possible preparation. Professional event filmmakers ideally scout the location in advance.
Event film or livestream – which makes more sense?
Sometimes the question is not just “What does an event film cost?” but “Event film or livestream?” Both formats have different strengths:
- Event film – permanently usable, professionally edited, multiple uses. Long-term ROI.
- Livestream – reach in real time, employees or customers who cannot be on site take part.
- Combination – In many projects, we produce both in parallel: livestream for real-time participation, event film for permanent use.
